Dear Sisters and Brothers:
It is a sad day when the historic roots of the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A., are tossed aside in order to be a more inclusive body. The action of the 217th General Assembly to approve the “Theological Task Force Report on Peace, Unity and Purity” will introduce a new chapter for the connectional church. I urge the churches and minister members of the Presbytery of Central Washington to:
Set your anchor with Jesus Christ. Do not look to affinity groups for mooring. Firmly ground yourself in the Word of Holy Scripture. Test the Spirit as you seek the will of God for our journey together. The compass points are identified by our Lord and Savior and the journey needs to be plotted by Jesus Christ. A testing of the Spirits will gives us a chance to wait and listen and speak a Word of God to each other. Pray every time you take a breath. Pray that God will show us a way. As the Moderator of the General Assembly spoke “when there is no way God will show us the way!” Come to the June 27 Presbytery Meeting to listen, discern, pray and support each other as we plan our common life together in light of the actions of the General Assembly.
God Bless, G David Lambertson, Executive Presbyter |
